The Secret World of Parasites

You may be an unsuspecting victim of the parasitic epidemic that is affecting millions of people. Most people think that you have to travel to distant parts of the world to get a parasitic infection. Nothing could be further from the truth. You can get a host of parasites including Giardia, Pinworms, Tapeworms and more.

How do we get parasites?

Parasites live everywhere and are commonly transmitted to humans in many ways, such as insect bites, walking barefoot in warm, sandy soil, eating undercooked meats and fish (sushi), city water supplies that are contaminated, drinking water or swimming in lakes, rivers, and streams, raw foods such as salads and fruits and from contact with our pets. Parasites can also be acquired by putting one's hands in the mouth after being in contact with something having a parasite on it. This type of transmission could occur by shaking hands, kissing, sharing drinks or even inhaling dust that contains eggs or cysts of these organisms.

How do we know if we have parasites?

Parasites can be present for years in the body with no symptoms at all. No organ is immune. The blood, muscles, heart, lungs and brain are all possible sites for infestation. About a third of human parasites live in the digestive tract and the other two thirds live somewhere else in the body.

Common Symptoms of Parasites in Humans:

Constipation: Some parasites, because of their shape and size can physically obstruct certain organs. Heavy infestations can block the common bile duct and the intestinal tract, making elimination infrequent and difficult.

Diarrhea: Certain parasites produce prostaglandin's (a hormone like substance found in various human tissue) which creates a sodium and chloride loss that can lead to frequent water stool. The diarrhea process in parasitic infection is thus a function of the parasite and not the body attempt at ridding itself of the infectious organism.

Gas and Bloating: Some parasites live in the upper small intestine where the inflammation they produce causes both gas and bloating. This can be aggravated by eating harder to digest foods such as beans and raw fruits and vegetables. Persistent abdominal distention is usually a sign of these silent invaders. These symptoms can persist for years.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome: Parasites can irritate, inflame and coat the intestinal cell wall, leading to a variety of gastrointestinal symptoms, and cause inadequate absorption of vital nutrients, particularly fatty substances that are absolutely essential for the proper inner functioning of our bodes. This malabsorption can lead to bulky stools and excess fat in the feces.

Joint and Muscle Aches and Pains: Parasites are known to migrate to encyst in joint fluids as well as muscles. Once this happen, pain becomes evident and is often assumed to be caused by arthritis. Joint and muscle pains and inflammation can also be the result of tissue damage cause by some parasites or the body's ongoing immune response to their presence.

Anemia: Some varieties of parasites attach themselves to the mucosal lining of the intestines and then rob vital nutrients from the human host. If there is enough of them they can create sufficient blood loss to cause a type of iron deficiency or pernicious anemia.

Allergies: Parasites can irritate and sometimes perforate the intestinal lining, increasing bowel permeability to large undigested molecules. This can activate the body's immune response to produce increased levels of eosonophils, a type of fighter cells. These can inflame body tissue resulting in allergic reaction

Skin Conditions: Parasites can cause hives, rashes, weeping eczema, and other allergy type skin reactions. Cutaneous ulcers, swellings and sores, itchy dermatitis and a number of types of lesions can all result for parasite invasion.

Granulomas: These are tumor like masses that encase destroyed larvae or parasitic eggs. They most often develop in the colon or rectal wall but can also be found in the lungs, liver, uterus and elsewhere.

Nervousness: Parasitic metabolic wastes and toxic substances can serve as irritants to the central nervous system. Restlessness and anxiety can be the direct result of a systemic parasitic infection. Perhaps that is why after completing a parasite cleanse many people swear that their persistently grouchy mates or relatives have become more pleasant and patient!

Sleep Disturbances: Multiple awakenings during the night particularly between 2 and 3 AM are possibly caused by the body's attempt to eliminate toxic wastes via the liver. Interrupted sleep can also be caused by exits of certain parasites through the anus, creating intense discomfort and itching.

Tooth Grinding and Clenching: This can be a nervous response the internal foreign irritant. Most noticeable in children.

Chronic Fatigue: These symptoms include extreme fatigue, flu-like symptoms, apathy, depression, impaired concentration, and memory problems. All of these can be caused by parasitic infections. You become malnourished and improper absorption of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats takes place, making it next to impossible for your body to function at it's peak.

Other symptoms of parasitic infections could be immune system dysfunction, fibromyalgia, excess weight gain or weight loss, bad breath, migraines, diabetes and more.

Are there tests available?

Testing is limited and does not cover the wide range of parasites that may inhabit you. Over 1000 species could infect humans and only about 40 or 50 of them are identifiable through testing. Since using natural medicine to rid the body of parasites is completely safe, it's best to just do the cleanse even if you suspect that you have them.

In closing, Parasites deprive our body of proper nutrients and leave us only empty calories as leftovers. And the body will start craving more and more food as it is starved for essential vitamins and minerals. Always seek professional help when cleansing parasites.
